Mission

Lackey Free Clinic Meals
KirkWood provides meals to the staff of volunteers at the clinic.

York/Poquoson Social Services
KirkWood aids less fortunate families identified by Social Services with needed household items, food, and clothing.

The Pastor’s Fund
KirkWood offers help to those individuals and families in need of help in times of emergencies.

Blanket + Program
From something as simple as collecting blankets, amazing things can happen for people in need.

Food Drive
Canned foods and other non-perishable foods are collected for the St. Luke’s Food Pantry the 1st Sunday of each month.

H.O.P.E. Sundays
KirkWood assists the Southeastern Food Bank to provide food for needy families through the Helping Other People Eat program. Offerings for the H.O.P.E. Ministry will be held the 2nd Sunday of each month.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Weekend Ministry
KirkWood covers one weekend every two months feeding the homeless out of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in downtown Newport News. We cook a hot meal for Saturday lunch and make sandwiches for bag lunches on Sunday of that weekend.

Mentoring
KirkWood members volunteer their time to tutor and read stories to students at McIntosh Elementary in Newport News and Poquoson Primary in Poquoson.

Menchville House/Youth Challenge/Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge
KirkWood supports these faith-based, non-denominational programs in our local area. They are organized to serve men and women in transition, offering shelter, hope, and resources to face life. The programs provide shelter in a setting where the residents learn to defeat old behaviors through support and counseling, and gain assurance and self-esteem, which will enable them to function as independent persons without public assistance.

PORT (People Offering Resources Together)
KirkWood helps provide shelter, meals, and clothing to the homeless on the Peninsula during winter months. We also provide socks, underwear, t-shirts, warm shirts, sweaters, sweat shirts, and sweat pants. Please place any donations of clothing in the blue bin by the side door. Thank you so very much for your help.
