Congregational Care

The Mission of CC Committee is to coordinate with the other committees on Session to strive to meet the needs of our KirkWood members through the planning and hosting of events and activities throughout the year, contacting and providing meals, when necessary, to our injured, sick, and grieving church families, and visiting shut-in members and providing transportation to those in need.  These functions include the following:

  • Weekly Coffee Fellowship after worship services
  • Dining Partners meets monthly for food, fellowship, fun, and reflection.
  • KirkWood Silver offers monthly fellowship events for the “senior” members of our church
  • Men’s Fellowship Breakfast (generally monthly)
  • Fellowship dinners, generally quarterly, including an annual chili cook-off and military appreciation dinner.
  • Annual Church Picnic
  • Organizing and providing meals for the sick, bereaved, and, on occasion, for receptions through the Meals and Bread Ministry Program
  • Providing transportation for those needing assistance.
  • Discipleship groups (aka small groups) – currently 5 groups meet, call the church for more information
  • Providing funding and oversight for Stephen Ministry training whose organizational mission is to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ
  • Assisting with the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank with distribution in Poquoson

Spring Picnic

KirkWood held our annual Spring picnic on May 22.  The weather was perfect, the food delicious, and the fellowship was wonderful after a long time of being cautious.  Lots of laughter and a chance to lift our spirits.  Looking foward to more time together.
